When to instruct a commercial debt recovery partner

We are the next stage after your in-house team, not a replacement for it. Engage us when a balance passes your agreed threshold, a payment promise breaks, a payment plan fails, or internal chasing stops making meaningful progress.

A disputed balance or signs of financial distress call for a considered review, not an automatic escalation. We give you a candid view on whether to act now, hold, or take another approach.

One overdue balance or a whole portfolio

Refer the case

Send invoices, statements, contracts or agreements through the portal, by email, or in the format and by the method that suits your team. Check debtor contacts, the balance, any dispute and supporting context.

Agree the approach

Terms are agreed before we act. Once the mandate is accepted, a dedicated case owner handles correspondence, disputes, settlement discussions and appropriate next steps.

Follow the position

See case status, payments, legal progress and activity in the secure client portal. Reporting and a timestamped audit trail keep your team informed without reconstructing inboxes.

Fees, disputes and legal escalation

How are recovery fees agreed?
Pre-legal recovery is undertaken on a contingency basis, typically at 12% plus VAT at 20% (14.4% including VAT). We assess the balance, supporting evidence and recovery prospects to propose terms appropriate to your case or portfolio. The rate, scope and calculation of our fee are agreed before instruction. Where legal action is needed, we provide fixed-price legal costings wherever available; nothing escalates without your approval.
Can interest and recovery costs offset your fee?
Where the agreement or applicable law permits, we pursue recoverable interest and recovery costs alongside the outstanding balance. Amounts recovered can offset some or all of our fee, reducing the net cost of recovery. The position depends on the agreement, settlement terms and amounts ultimately collected; our fee is not automatically payable by the debtor.
What if the debtor disputes the balance?
Tell us what is disputed and provide the relevant correspondence and supporting documents. Dispute handling forms part of the mandate, with a considered approach to settlement and escalation rather than treating every balance the same.
Does instruction mean immediate legal action?
No. Structured negotiation and appropriate arrangements are part of the recovery approach. Managed escalation, from letter before action through to CCJ, winding-up or bankruptcy, tracked in one view per case. These are alternative routes depending on suitability, not automatic successive steps. You retain approval of recommended legal escalation.
Can I review relevant experience before instructing?
Case material, references and anonymised outcomes are shared confidentially during a consultation, scoped to your questions. Client work is not published on this site.

Considering whether this is the right fit?

A short consultation is usually sufficient. We will give you a candid view on whether to engage now, later, or not at all.
